After being wrongly convicted of the 1965 murder of Black civil rights activist Malcolm X, Muhammad Aziz served 20 years in jail.

Aziz is currently suing New York City and the investigative officials for $40 million.

On Thursday, Aziz's attorneys submitted a 59-page complaint to the Eastern District of the United States District Court in New York.

The now 84-year-old Aziz is claiming for constitutional rights violations, including the denial of his right to due process.

The complaint further mentioned that Aziz, a father of six children and a veteran of the US Navy, was just 26 years old.

When he was taken into custody in connection with the murder of Malcolm X.
