Since breaking into the music scene in 1976, U2 has established itself as Dublin's most recognisable rock group.

Under the name "Feedback," the group made its debut in the music scene by embracing the post-punk subgenre.

Later, he changed his name to 'The Hype'. And they came up with 'U2' in 1978.

The band achieved their first major breakthrough with their fifth studio album The Joshua Tree.

Bono hasn't always been content with the band's moniker, despite the fact that U2 has now gained cult status.

Bono revealed in a conversation with the Awards Chatter podcast that the name U2 was not what he was looking for.

In the same chat, the vocalist also mentioned that they had not always liked the name.

Initially, according to Bono, they believed the name would sound more modern and hip under the moniker U2.
