President Joe Biden reiterated his continued support for two states for two peoples while visited the West Bank on Friday.

but he also noted that the "ground is not ready" for resuming stalled negotiations to bring about an elusive peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

He announced $201 million for the United Nations body helping Palestinian refugees.

He made these remarks while in Bethlehem with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

Biden remarked, "The Palestinian people are suffering right now. "You can simply sense it.

Your sorrow and annoyance. We can sense it here in the United States.

They "deserve" their own independent, sovereign, functional, and contiguous state, according to Biden. 

Two states for two people who coexist peacefully and securely, both of whom have long-standing historical ties to this region.
